When was the last time you were with a group of people who shares your passion and interest?
When was that time you sit beside someone and for no reason you started giggling together at something only both of you understands?
When was the last time you feel you are truly connected without explaining yourself to any single soul? You feel like you belong and you tell yourself: This is the place I want to be. This is the people I like to share ideas with. This is exactly the things I can talk over and over.
Well, that’s how I exactly felt last Saturday on Martine De Luna’s Write On Workshop: YOUR BLOG, YOUR BLISS at Kuppa Roastery Cafe, The Fort!
I’ve met fantastic people all beautifully dressed up ready for yet another battle of their lives. All happy and proud mommies and mommy-to-be that aspire to have a place in the world wide web. To share and tell stories, and to touch lives in their own little way.
Personally the idea of finding your happiness hit me straight in the heart.
On Finding Your Bliss
Honesty, I went to Martine’s workshop to learn how to monetize my blog. That’s my primary goal.
But oh boy was I wrong!
I’m sure you’ve heard this advice a hundred times:
Do what you love and the money will follow.
I know in my heart I want to blog. I want to write. I want to take nice photos and share it to everyone. So in clear view, I’m doing exactly what I love BUT the money is not following.
Can you see where I’m going here?
I want both. To do things that I love and to have money to sustain the things that I love and MORE. I can’t live on love alone, come on…
So… after a long and very exhausting self-talk I realized that there’s nothing wrong with what I’m doing or with what I’m currently loving.
It’s just that I’m missing something… I’m too shy to go out and promote my blog to people whom I know will help me to get some money coming in. My low self-esteem is blocking my way… I remember Martine mentioned about the 80/20 rule; 80 percent you spend time promoting/marketing and 20 percent on writing. That hit me again… I’m just writing and writing and “picturing and picturing” and cooking but not marketing! I realized that if I will try doing the marketing part I will not just be happy but somehow, prosperous.
See? I’m getting somewhere here.
So today, I picked up Martine’s workbook, which is very helpful by the way, and I will finish all the exercises today and I plan to work on the implementation ASAP.
Wish me luck people!!!
So Martine, if you kind of look at this blog post… Thank you! One of your goal to touch lives work on me.
So, I’ll see you on your next workshop, and I wish to see all those pretty faces again like Martha S., Hyatt, DJ, Juday, Gwynette, Kris A., Bianca G, Angelina J and all the lovely ladies.
Martine is Awesome diba?!
