Slide and I  have been a true and loyal Kimono Ken’s fan ever since we first had their ramen and rolls last year on my birthday.  Slide was obsessed in their ramen and always asks me to make one at home.   One day I went to Tomas Morato and chanced to see a Japanese grocery store, Fuji Mart.  Within a few minutes everything I needed to make a ramen were in the cash register for payment.  I went home excited, my husband Slide was very delighted to see my pasalubong.

shoyu ramen
Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish.  Shoyu is a type of Japanese soy sauce.  In tagalog, noodles na may toyooo.

Here’s a quick way to make a Shoyu Ramen.

  • 1 pack ramen noodles
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 onion
  • 1 pack shoyu
  • For toppings: (optional)
  • chopped negi
  • nori (dried seaweed)
  • egg
  • roe
  • onion leeks
  • pepper

Bring the water to a boil, put onion, noodles and shoyu.  Cook for a few minutes.  Place toppings, such as chopped negi, egg and nori seaweed. Sprinkle some pepper and roe if you would like.
